The 3D extravaganza : Toy story 3

Our second last stop along our way , brings us to the beloved toy story series .There are some movies which we hold dear to our heart which we enjoyed during our childhood days, for example am sure we all enjoyed the tom and jerry series when we were all young but make a movie about tom and jerry and i doubt how many of us will actually go see that movie. The greatest example is the Scooby day movie which bombed at the box office. Thats what actually went wrong with toy story , but the 3D i guess is an add on feature i guess

Here's a little synopsis for you to play with-
Woody and Buzz had accepted that their owner Andy would grow up someday, but what happens when that day arrives? In the third installment, Andy is preparing to depart for college, leaving his loyal toys troubled about their uncertain future.

You all must be wondering why such a short synopsis , that's cause there's not much in this movie to talk about. Its strictly children only , appeals only to the light hearted . Me and my bro was so bored that we walked out of the theater. Want to reminiscence your old childhood days , go for this one or go for it only for the kids and doze off in that nice comfy chair at the multiplex
3D rating-
Not as hyped in the trailer , okay enough to keep the kids busy. 3D is just an add on feature i guess

The 3D extravaganza :Final destination 4

Third pit stop on our journey takes us to the much hyped series of final destination, here's one series which goes to prove the point that sequels don't usually match the originals in any sort of way. That's probably one of the reasons they made the last (hopefully) a 3D version. For all those who don't know what FD means - here's the theme a group of people survive a horrible accident or incident in which they were supposedly to have lost their lives , but gets saved by a one man's premonition only to get hunted down by death in weirdest possible manners ever . I know weird right , but its gore made it a hit for the first two series.

Here's a little synopsis to risk your life on-
On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O'Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave... escaping seconds before Nick's frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they've cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one--in increasingly gruesome ways--Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination.

Here's the thing about final destination , after some time you just get tired of people dying around you in all wildest manners possible. Come on killed by a screw , really. But for all you sadistic people who are really into Gore fest this is definitely a treat for you guys , take that girl who dumped you for this movie and watch her scream he he .
3D experience -
Awesome 3D experience , really enhances the little details such as the flying objects, my favorite scene is one in which the screw flies straight into your eyes from the screen. Another ,movie probably saved by 3D technology

The 3D extravaganza : How to train your dragon

Our next stop in the 3D world is an animated movie -
"HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON" sounds cocky doesn't it, but don't worry its one of the coolest animation's released this season . It brings two of the most ferocious characters in folklore - Dragons and vikings together and believe me its an awesome combination .

Here's a short synopsis for you to feed your dragon-
A Viking teenager named Hiccup lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen's smarts and offbeat sense of humor don't sit too well with his tribe or its chief... who just happens to be Hiccup's father. However, when Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup's one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe.

The movie brings that little kid in us out and makes us to scream and laugh each time hiccup and his pet dragon night wing goes out for an adventure . Its a must watch for all ages .
3D experience
Amazing 3D , doesn't feel like its animated movie at times, my favorite 3D scene is when the fog appears and trees come out of the screen and the way night wing flies around . See it in fully loaded 3D theater

The 3D extravaganza : Alice in wonderland

Here my next series blog and its dedicated to the new thing on the block, that's right 3-D technology. Okay here's how 3D first touched my life, in form of the malayalam movie "My dear kuttichathan" a children s pic which had all the ingredients of the late 90's imagination of the innocent child's fantasy , floating balloons , big tub ice creams , demons and all of that too in 3D . After which it seemed the 3D genre died , but then cameroon stepped in and showed us all what the world of 3D can do to main stream cinema with "Avatar". It seemed at one time Avatar sparked off a new generation of movies , like the matrix with its gravity defying stunts. Then came Blitz of 3D tvs, movies, live programs and 3D games. So here's my review dedicated to the world of the 3D.

First stop is none other a remake of the classic "Alice in wonderland" .
With big names such as Anne hathway and Johnny Depp , Tim burton's movie promises creation of the classic in 3D
Here's a short synopsis for you wander on-
19-year-old Alice returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen's reign of terror.

Here's the thing about this movie, if it wasnt for the 3D , this movie probably would have bombed at the box office. The only worth while character is the mad hatter played by none other our favorite "Johnny depp", alice seems to lack emotion and queen looks like she about to blow gas all the time. The movie lacks the awe and wonder of the original book and tend to stick the pattern followed by movies like narnia and LOTR.

3D experience -
Got to give it the Disney 3D lab they did their job perfectly to save this movie , my favorite 3D part is the credits where the leaves fall out of the screen. Mind you i watched this in superb Disney approved theater in kuala lampur. Need not be the same everywhere

GREEN ZONE

Heres the thing , when it comes to matt damon am a die hard fan , more specifically the jason bourne series , ever since the Bourne identity got released Matt damon has symbolised to me what an ideal secret agent must be. After Bourne , bond just become a circus clown (of course Daniel Craig changed all of that), then came his films of the Oceans series and two let down movies the Good shepherd and the informant. So its with great expectations i went to see Green zone . Jason bourne in Middle east woho......

Here a short synopsis to take your mind away-
During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one bobby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission. Spun by operatives with intersection agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

Logline: The story of the chaotic attempts of the Americans to set up a provisional government in the area around Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's palace.
Genres: Drama, Thriller, Adaptation and War
Running Time: 1 hr. 55 min.
Release Date: March 12th, 2010 (wide)
MPAA Rating: R for violence and language.

At the end of the day , this movie is again one man against the world scenario , its set in post war Iraq , where rebuilding is going on, but unlike all the other movie it does not create a false aura of American Samaritan-ism or potray a picture of U.S as the savior of all nations, instead it rawly shows you the greed and bussiness interests with which American bureaucracy invades home land soil of the middle east for pursuit of their own interests , with the plight of the american of the ordinary american soldier whose dragged into war not of his liking and ambtion.
See this movie with patience and see it if your a matt damon fan

Final word-
My take on this movie - Solid ,emotional and action packed . Put it in one sentence "Kicks more ass than Hurt locker"
Who needs the Oscars when you have Matt Damon
