The 3D extravaganza : Toy story 3

Our second last stop along our way , brings us to the beloved toy story series .There are some movies which we hold dear to our heart which we enjoyed during our childhood days, for example am sure we all enjoyed the tom and jerry series when we were all young but make a movie about tom and jerry and i doubt how many of us will actually go see that movie. The greatest example is the Scooby day movie which bombed at the box office. Thats what actually went wrong with toy story , but the 3D i guess is an add on feature i guess

Here's a little synopsis for you to play with-
Woody and Buzz had accepted that their owner Andy would grow up someday, but what happens when that day arrives? In the third installment, Andy is preparing to depart for college, leaving his loyal toys troubled about their uncertain future.

You all must be wondering why such a short synopsis , that's cause there's not much in this movie to talk about. Its strictly children only , appeals only to the light hearted . Me and my bro was so bored that we walked out of the theater. Want to reminiscence your old childhood days , go for this one or go for it only for the kids and doze off in that nice comfy chair at the multiplex
3D rating-
Not as hyped in the trailer , okay enough to keep the kids busy. 3D is just an add on feature i guess

The 3D extravaganza :Final destination 4

Third pit stop on our journey takes us to the much hyped series of final destination, here's one series which goes to prove the point that sequels don't usually match the originals in any sort of way. That's probably one of the reasons they made the last (hopefully) a 3D version. For all those who don't know what FD means - here's the theme a group of people survive a horrible accident or incident in which they were supposedly to have lost their lives , but gets saved by a one man's premonition only to get hunted down by death in weirdest possible manners ever . I know weird right , but its gore made it a hit for the first two series.

Here's a little synopsis to risk your life on-
On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O'Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave... escaping seconds before Nick's frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they've cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one--in increasingly gruesome ways--Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination.

Here's the thing about final destination , after some time you just get tired of people dying around you in all wildest manners possible. Come on killed by a screw , really. But for all you sadistic people who are really into Gore fest this is definitely a treat for you guys , take that girl who dumped you for this movie and watch her scream he he .
3D experience -
Awesome 3D experience , really enhances the little details such as the flying objects, my favorite scene is one in which the screw flies straight into your eyes from the screen. Another ,movie probably saved by 3D technology

The 3D extravaganza : How to train your dragon

Our next stop in the 3D world is an animated movie -
"HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON" sounds cocky doesn't it, but don't worry its one of the coolest animation's released this season . It brings two of the most ferocious characters in folklore - Dragons and vikings together and believe me its an awesome combination .

Here's a short synopsis for you to feed your dragon-
A Viking teenager named Hiccup lives on the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen's smarts and offbeat sense of humor don't sit too well with his tribe or its chief... who just happens to be Hiccup's father. However, when Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens, he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup's one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe.

The movie brings that little kid in us out and makes us to scream and laugh each time hiccup and his pet dragon night wing goes out for an adventure . Its a must watch for all ages .
3D experience
Amazing 3D , doesn't feel like its animated movie at times, my favorite 3D scene is when the fog appears and trees come out of the screen and the way night wing flies around . See it in fully loaded 3D theater

The 3D extravaganza : Alice in wonderland

Here my next series blog and its dedicated to the new thing on the block, that's right 3-D technology. Okay here's how 3D first touched my life, in form of the malayalam movie "My dear kuttichathan" a children s pic which had all the ingredients of the late 90's imagination of the innocent child's fantasy , floating balloons , big tub ice creams , demons and all of that too in 3D . After which it seemed the 3D genre died , but then cameroon stepped in and showed us all what the world of 3D can do to main stream cinema with "Avatar". It seemed at one time Avatar sparked off a new generation of movies , like the matrix with its gravity defying stunts. Then came Blitz of 3D tvs, movies, live programs and 3D games. So here's my review dedicated to the world of the 3D.

First stop is none other a remake of the classic "Alice in wonderland" .
With big names such as Anne hathway and Johnny Depp , Tim burton's movie promises creation of the classic in 3D
Here's a short synopsis for you wander on-
19-year-old Alice returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen's reign of terror.

Here's the thing about this movie, if it wasnt for the 3D , this movie probably would have bombed at the box office. The only worth while character is the mad hatter played by none other our favorite "Johnny depp", alice seems to lack emotion and queen looks like she about to blow gas all the time. The movie lacks the awe and wonder of the original book and tend to stick the pattern followed by movies like narnia and LOTR.

3D experience -
Got to give it the Disney 3D lab they did their job perfectly to save this movie , my favorite 3D part is the credits where the leaves fall out of the screen. Mind you i watched this in superb Disney approved theater in kuala lampur. Need not be the same everywhere

GREEN ZONE

Heres the thing , when it comes to matt damon am a die hard fan , more specifically the jason bourne series , ever since the Bourne identity got released Matt damon has symbolised to me what an ideal secret agent must be. After Bourne , bond just become a circus clown (of course Daniel Craig changed all of that), then came his films of the Oceans series and two let down movies the Good shepherd and the informant. So its with great expectations i went to see Green zone . Jason bourne in Middle east woho......

Here a short synopsis to take your mind away-
During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one bobby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission. Spun by operatives with intersection agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

Logline: The story of the chaotic attempts of the Americans to set up a provisional government in the area around Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's palace.
Genres: Drama, Thriller, Adaptation and War
Running Time: 1 hr. 55 min.
Release Date: March 12th, 2010 (wide)
MPAA Rating: R for violence and language.

At the end of the day , this movie is again one man against the world scenario , its set in post war Iraq , where rebuilding is going on, but unlike all the other movie it does not create a false aura of American Samaritan-ism or potray a picture of U.S as the savior of all nations, instead it rawly shows you the greed and bussiness interests with which American bureaucracy invades home land soil of the middle east for pursuit of their own interests , with the plight of the american of the ordinary american soldier whose dragged into war not of his liking and ambtion.
See this movie with patience and see it if your a matt damon fan

Final word-
My take on this movie - Solid ,emotional and action packed . Put it in one sentence "Kicks more ass than Hurt locker"
Who needs the Oscars when you have Matt Damon

EXPENDABLES

There were a time not long ago about eight years back, when a genre called action movies were made , a genre which believed in pure action without sentiment , without reason and without hassles of script restrictions. They were movies made for the sole purpose of satisfying man's need for excitement thrill and ad reline . But that genre was long forgetten till stallone came out and bought us the expendables , to remind us of the golden era of the great action stars and their great movies- Commando,Predator,Rambo,Rocky,Lethal weapon,Cobra,Quest,Crank,Die hard ...to name a few . This movie bought back those great images of my childhood where everytime our hero kicked butt on T.V bought joy and a sense of justice to the mind of the youngster

Here's a short synopsis to blow you away-
A group of mercenaries is hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren't quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge -- one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers. Barney Ross is a man with nothing to lose. Fearless and void of emotion, he is the leader, the sage and the strategist of this tight-knit band of men who live on the fringe. His only attachment is to his pickup truck, his seaplane and his team of loyal modern-day warriors. His is a true cynic who describes what he does as ¿removing those hard to get at stains.¿ The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas, former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade; Yin Yang, a master at close-quarter combat; Hale Caesar, who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road, a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen, a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons. When the mysterious Church offers Barney a job no one else would take, Barney and his team embark on what appears to be a routine mission: overthrow General Gaza, the murderous dictator of the small island country of Vilena and end the years of death and destruction inflicted on its people. On a reconnaissance mission to Vilena, Barney and Christmas meet their contact Sandra, a local freedom-fighter with a dark secret. They also come to learn who their true enemy is: rogue ex-CIA operative James Monroe and his henchman Paine. When things go terribly wrong, Barney and Christmas are forced to leave Sandra behind, essentially giving her a death sentence. Haunted by this failure, Barney convinces the team to return to Vilena to rescue the hostage and finish the job he started. And to perhaps save a soul: his own.

This movie as my friend described just bought back a forgotten genre with it. It showed us you don't need Great visual effects and 3D like avatar or a complicated script like inception to make an entertaining movie , all you need is a few good stars with a simple plot and lot of explosives to take the audience for a ride .The expendables movie means a lot to me and am sure a lot to my generation as it bought all the stars of our childhood on the big screen once , to fulfill all our juvenile fantasies we had (especially blowing up one's own school) . Sure to most people , it may seems like a movie which liked a proper plot or direction, but hey you dont go to watch stallone and ,statham , li , bruce willis dramtise and cry , you go to see them kick the shiat outta of the bad guy and have a happy ending

The DiCaprio special: INCEPTION

Our final stop , the movie that everyone is talking about, literally the whole world is baffled by Christopher Nolan's inception. For me at the beginning when they were shooting for this one , it was nothing more than a movie which delayed the release of the ever expected sequel to the dark knight "GOTHAM" . Been true to myself i thought this movie would bomb at the box office especially with its concept- stealing ideas from peoples minds while they were asleep. I thought to myself another freakish mind bender movie which no one other than a few critics would like. Then the first trailer got released and i was left speechless , then 2nd and third were released and i was left wanting for more . This movie after its release in July have left audiences , movie critics ,film makers and actors alike pondering over the heights to which films can be taken, so much so that it left my idol- film critic Rajeev Masand going on air and asking Aamir khan whether india will ever make a movie like inception . Unlike avatar this movie didn't rely on special effects to capture the audience , it used all the basic elements of movie making to take you on a ride into the world of the Dream.

Here's bit of the story for you to dream about-
Dom Cobb(DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible -- inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

Here's the thing about inception for all those of you have seen it , the riddle of the movie cant be solved , that's the secret Nolan's used . He's created such an ending to a movie where each individual can decipher an ending of his choosing . This movie is an idea born from the great mind of Nolan and make no mistake no other director (even Spielberg) could have pulled this off. His concept of dreams within dreams is executed in such a flawless manner, that it puts diamonds to shame . This movie can even be used as an I.Q test for assessing people , if there are people who failed to grab the concept of the movie , bah don't bother with them and for girls don't go out on a date with a guy who doesn't like inception .

Details
Logline: A contemporary science fiction thriller set in the architecture of the human mind.
Genres: Action/Adventure, Drama, Science Fiction/Fantasy and Thriller
Running Time: 2 hr. 28 min.
Release Date: July 16th, 2010 (wide)
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sequences of violence and action throughout.

Final word
I am not sure whether i have the right to judge this movie but here's what i say, watch this movie like you were playing a chess game , watching every move carefully and trying to anticipate the next move each time and even with all your concentration this movie will leave you amazed and searching for answers. The last scene is the masterpiece , the icing on the cake . Well this one was definitely worth the wait and batman 3 "Gotham" can wait , cause we are all still stuck in the Dream created by Nolan.

P.s - please don't download a very bad quality print of this movie from the internet for the sake of watching the movie , either catch this one at your local theater or wait for the DVD release cause this is one movie that you want to see in all of its glory.

The Dicaprio special: Shutter island

The fourth movie in the line up bring back our dear pair of Martin Scorsese and Dicaprio together for what some would say a master piece and others mentally disturbing. But theres no doubting one thing that the movie is one of a kind and will be loved by certain group of people and hated by the others . On high expectations at this years oscars for Martin Scorsese and Caprio the movie captures a world never seen by the common man - the life of the insane .

Heres a short synopsis-
Two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.

The reason why i have chosen to give such a short synopsis is cause the more i reveal , the more i take away from the plot and climax of the story , DiCaprio plays his part of disturbed U.S marshal assigned to investigate shutter island to perfection but its Martin Scorsese direction especially the images he manages to plant in your head that makes the movie truly special . It makes you question the line between sanity and insanity . Who's to judge who's sane and whose not ? These are some questions it leaves you with. Even if you don't wander to such lengths of thought it will definitely leave you shaken and stirred.

Details
Genres: Action/Adventure, Thriller and Adaptation
Running Time: 2 hrs. 18 min.
Release Date: February 19th, 2010 (wide)
MPAA Rating: R for disturbing violent content, language and some nudity.

Final word
Here's one movie which i can think you should watch alone at night and pay attention to every detail of the movie to solve the puzzle of Shutter island before its too late . A movie which left me with a headache but some consider a masterpiece especially my friend Maddy (who in a way should be locked up in shutter island)
This review is dedicated to her and her insane ways ......

The DiCaprio special: Body of lies

Movie number three , Dicaprio's body of lies is different from the previous two, it was released among much hype with the ever classic russel crowe in the lead along with him with the movie having its roots in CIA conspiracy in the middle east you go expecting a ala Jason bourne scenario but thats not what you get.. its a very different movie ....with a more patient build up and more conversations.

Here a bit to get you started with -
A CIA operative, Roger Ferris, uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence. Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation--and his life--on the line.

The movie builds itself more on dialogue than action much like tom cruise's Lions for lambs unlike which the body of lies succeds in such story telling. There is not an over all lack of action as there are some high octane action but most of the screen time is gulped up by Caprio and Crowe who are at each others throats from the Start till finish of the movie , its their vibe which keeps the movie going. For all those interseted in middle east scenario might wanna get a look at this.

Genres: Thriller and Adaptation
Running Time: 2 hr. 8 min.
Release Date: October 10th, 2008 (wide)
MPAA Rating: R for strong violence including some torture, and for language throughout.

Final word
A must watch for all Caprio and Crowe fans to see both of them duel it out , See it when your really in the mood of the movie , dont watch for the sake of it and you lose the plot of the movie .

The DiCaprio special:The Departed

Continuing on with the DiCaprio movie series . My next review is Martin Scorsese's oscar winning movie the Departed. Another movie i must say for the macho man or a must see dude movie for all of us action loving freaks out there. The departed incorporates gang violence , immigration issues , police corruption, love , betrayal into a pot boiler of a plot that keeps you on your seat till the end. Even though many debate whether Scorsese should have been given the oscar earlier for raging bull or his other fantastic movie no one would argue this one deserves one....
Heres a little synopsis for you to munch on....

The Departed' is set in South Boston, where the state police force is waging war on organized crime. Young undercover cop Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by gangland chief Costello (Jack Nicholson). While Billy is quickly gaining Costello's confidence, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), a hardened young criminal who has infiltrated the police department as an informer for the syndicate, is rising to a position of power in the Special Investigation Unit. Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double life, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operations he has penetrated. But when it becomes clear to both the gangsters and the police that there's a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin are suddenly in danger of being caught and exposed to the enemy -- and each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself.

The movie essentially owes its credibility to the performances put up by Matt damon , Dicaprio , Mark Wahlberg,Jack Nicholson,Alec Baldwin so to speak of all the great names here. But its mark wahlbergs charcter that catches your attention from the start , even though his role is limited , he is the true no holds barred cop and probably the only clean guy in the movie with the movies most memorable moments . Jack Nicholson does justice as the villain of the piece Costello whom you tend to admire as the cool and composed super villain . Alec baldwin puts in some good jokes along the way, and dicaprio and damon both seem to be agonist and antagonist roles played to perfection.

Details
Genres: Action/Adventure, Drama, Thriller, Crime/Gangster and Remake
Running Time: 2 hrs. 30 min.
Release Date: October 6th, 2006 (wide)
MPAA Rating: R for strong brutal violence, pervasive language, some strong sexual content and drug material.

Final word
This ladies and gentleman is the true Guy movie(dont watch it with your girlfriend) with lots of imminent characters who you both love as opposed to whether they are good or bad. In this movie you cant really pin point who the hero is or in the words of costello " when your facing a gun it doesnt matter whether your a cop or criminal " Thumbs up Scorsese .

The DiCaprio special: The blood diamond

This is my first series blog dedicated to a star i have come to admire as well as respect over the years. Its none other than Mr.Leonardo DiCaprio . Yes for some the lovable romantic of titanic, the sacrificial hero of blood diamond and the enigmatic lead of both shutter island and inception with a dark past . Dicaprio is one star that Hollywood can claim to have groomed over the years to perfection in our generation . Sure there were greats , Robert di nerio and AL pa chino in the generation's before us , but out generation lacked a star build in our image . That star is Di caprio so to pay my tribute to the star i am doing a series of reviews of his must watch films

The reason why i start of with the movie blood diamond is cause because this is one movie which has touched my heart . heres a little synopsis to give a fair idea whats it about -
Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990's Sierra Leone, Danny Archer, a South African mercenary, and Solomon Vandy, a Mende fisherman are joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon--who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields--has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen, an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory--a journey that could save Solomon's family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.

This movie packed with enough storyline , acting performances by both di caprio, Jennifer Connelly, Djimon Hounsou is an out right entertainer . Backed by a beautiful soundtrack the movie manages to move you and make you part of the fight against the injustice been served to the Africans at the hands of corporate companies and gives a true picture of horrible incidents taking place in the dark continent . I recommend this movie for the weekend with your best buds to be watched on large screen or a projector and Dolby surround sound to get the effect of it .

Genres: Drama, Romance, Thriller and Crime/Gangster
Running Time: 2 hrs. 11 min.
Release Date: December 8th, 2006 (wide)
MPAA Rating: R for strong violence and language.

Final word
This is a movie that not only entertains you but also encourages you to consider the implications of global economy on the smaller man and the price they pay so that we can fulfill each and everyone of our little desires . this movie is a one with a social message and a very important one too.

Raajneeti

Luckily i was able to catch the last show of Raajneeti in my city , yes i has already heard all the reviews and part of the stories link up to mahabharatha . So with intense optimism i set off to view Prakash Jha's Rajneeti .

Five minutes into the movie ...i thought this would be another Sarkar or a Phool where political drama and tension would be at the heighest. But the problem u face when watching a movie like rajneeti u torn between keeping track of its resemblence with mahabhartha or the story of the ghandhi clan. On one side you have all the main characters of mahabhartha being flawlessly been scripted into the movie with Ranbir kappor as the good Samaritan in the role of arjuna and ever wise and subtle nana patekar performing the role of Krishna with immaculate percision and the ever greedy and foolhardy Duryodhanan played by manoj vajpayee and the Dalit orphan played by ajaydevagan as karnan .While am still stuck figuring who i should attribute the role of arjun rampal to either yudhistaran or bheeman as he fits neither . All the other charcters are there Kunti, the caniving uncle shakuni and katrina kaif as an unconvincing draupadhi. In midst of all this drama comes the story of the Ghandhi clan which is sutured into the plot . We have politics of the post indira period the congress party split , Rajiv's forced entry into politics, the arrival of sonia , death of sanjay and for a moment your confused whether katrina is either Sonia or maneka at a point.

Too much for your head to handle, this is exactly Rajneeti's achilles heel it promises one thing delivers another . Yet it still has its moments where you truly enjoy the movie especially the role played by nana patekars krishna ever modest and noble yet poised for his unending thrive for justice by any means . Ranbir kapoor lacks emotion in certain scenes and your unable to connect with him and Prakash ja's take on each of their personal lives ends up being a soap opera of feelings which none in audience can be moved to. Even as major characters die without any valid and plausible reason theres no remarkble event that makes you feel for the sacrifies the ghandi clan has made for this country . Yet in all these flaws we find that the movie is saved by the concept with which it is made - a retelling of mahabharta with indian political history. Its like that saying "with great power comes great responsibilty" similarly prakash ja has not lived to his own great idea. Go watch the movie with an analytical mind and you might just enjoy it, try and connect the dots and you will see the great message this movie has to offer

With that i give Prakash ja's rajneeti 3/5 for a brilliant concept being uncannily put into movies. It's like an uncut diamond which has got lot of polishing to be done.

Avatar (2009)

SO here it goes my first review , so i thought why not review the most talked, debated, discussed and heard about movie of 2009....James cameroons Avatar.. First guys let me tell when i heard about avatar and i saw its trailer ...i didnt have much expectations..looked like an movie adaptation of the animated movie delgo...no one had a clue what the story was like or what the theme of the movie was goona be...months later avatar was released and cameroon had once again struck gold the director of titanic(dicaprio's start) , true lies , terminator 1 and 2 (which made arnold the man he is today) and aliens had once again worked his charm on the audience.....i didnt watch avatar first day first show as i was skeptical about the movie and waited for an opinion..laterwards waited for a good 3d running theatre to go to...but believe the waiting was worth it...what cameroon had managed to do was take the audience to that place in his head which he had dreamt of all these years but didnt have the technology to create it (he should have just contacted steve jobs or bill gates ,they would have had it).
Theres two kind of people who come out of the theatre watching avatar ..the ones astonished by it and ones left clueless by it....avatar is a joy ride like a childs fantasy you dont look for the clear cut plot or well executed dialouges ..ur in it for the experience ...remember Jurrasic park which is the scene u remember the most t rex scene or the boring scene where they discuss the chaos theory scene...thats my point .....people who are left angry , confused by avatar is because u've left behind the child in you when u came to the theatre... Avatar provides a visual treat for the eyes and also a treat for the ears...but i still felt a look of a good background score for the movie(a hans zimmer or john williams would have done nicely)....

Here's a small synopsis for those who still havent seen it(losers)........
AVATAR takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home.
We enter the alien world through the eyes of Jake Sully, a former Marine confined to a wheelchair. But despite his broken body, Jake is still a warrior at heart. He is recruited to travel light years to the human outpost on Pandora, where corporations are mining a rare mineral that is the key to solving Earth's energy crisis. Because the atmosphere of Pandora is toxic, they have created the Avatar Program, in which human "drivers" have their consciousness linked to an avatar, a remotely-controlled biological body that can survive in the lethal air. These avatars are genetically engineered hybrids of human DNA mixed with DNA from the natives of Pandora... the Na'vi. Reborn in his avatar form, Jake can walk again. He is given a mission to infiltrate the Na'vi, who have become a major obstacle to mining the precious ore. But a beautiful Na'vi female, Neytiri, saves Jake's life, and this changes everything. Jake is taken in by her clan, and learns to become one of them, which involves many tests and adventures. As Jake's relationship with his reluctant teacher Neytiri deepens, he learns to respect the Na'vi way and finally takes his place among them. Soon he will face the ultimate test as he leads them in an epic battle that will decide nothing less than the fate of an entire world.
